Mariah Carey responded to her problem-plagued performance on “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve With Ryan Seacrest” (video below). As Gossip Cop reported earlier, there were several issues with Carey’s tracks as she lip synced her hits “We Belong Together” and “Emotions.” Two and a half hours after the performance, the legendary singer broke her silence and brushed off the fiasco with a tweet that read, “S**t happens.”

Right from the start of her song “Emotions,” the track was off and Carey said, “I’m gonna let the audience sing.” While her dancers continued their moves, she wandered toward the back of the stage. Carey even muttered at one point, “It is what it is.” She also told the audience, “I’m trying to be a good sport here.”

Things didn’t get better when she tried to perform her second song. While she essentially gave up on “Emotions,” Carey attempted to lip sync “We Belong Together.” But she was clearly out of sync with that song, too, and it similarly looked disastrous. At times, Carey walked across the stage with her mic nowhere near her mouth. “It just don’t get any better,” Carey said at the end of that tune before walking off.

After Twitter reacted negatively, Carey herself sent out a tweet that read, “S**t happens,” along with a weary face emoji. She added optimistically, as well as with a sense of humor, “Have a happy and healthy new year everybody! Here’s to making more headlines in 2017.” See the video below of Carey’s “New Year’s Rockin’ Eve 2017″ performance.
