Mariah Carey performed on “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve With Ryan Seacrest 2018″ on Sunday. The performance was considered a do-over of sorts after the fiasco that took place with the 2017 broadcast. Watch the new video below!
As Gossip Cop reported, during last year’s event, the singer suffered major technical difficulties while performing in Times Square. Producers and the superstar’s camp then feuded over who was to blame. Carey and Dick Clark Productions addressed the disastrous performance when announcing her return to this year’s show. “We can all agree that last year didn’t go exactly as planned and we are thrilled to move forward together to provide America with an incredible night of music and celebration on Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest 2018. See you in Times Square,” they said in a joint statement.
While appearing on Friday’s “GMA” to promote the New Year’s extravaganza, Ryan Seacrest spoke about Carey’s infamous performance and her anticipated comeback. The “New Year’s Rockin’ Eve” host said, “It didn’t go as planned… She’s a legendary, iconic artist, so we’re excited to have her back. She’s doing a couple of songs, one of which will be ‘Hero’ right before midnight, outside in that cold.” He went on to add, “I’m confused as to who’s idea it truly was [for Carey to come back], but it’s a good idea. People love her. She’s beloved.”
On Saturday, one day before the event, the songstress herself tweeted, “See you tomorrow @NYRE!! Tune-in 12/31 at 8/7c on ABC! #RockinEve.” In 2005, Carey was the first artist to perform live from Times Square on the annual ABC special, which is now in its 46th year. And in addition to Carey, a slew of other top artists took to the stage in New York City for the festivities, including Camila Cabello, Nick Jonas and Sugarland.
